Brooklyn This Weekend

Brooklyn is never short of reasons to get outside and engage with the community around you. Whether you are looking for live music, local food, neighborhood markets or art exhibitions, the borough’s five-borough-in-one diversity means there is almost always something worth your time within walking distance. Here is a look at what Brooklyn has to offer this first weekend of March 2026.

Arts and Culture

Brooklyn’s museum and gallery scene remains one of the most vibrant in New York. The Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Heights continues to offer rotating exhibitions that draw both borough residents and visitors from across the city. The museum has maintained its commitment to free First Saturdays events on the first Saturday of each month, making world-class art accessible to everyone regardless of income.

Food and Markets

The Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg markets, Brooklyn’s beloved outdoor food and goods markets, typically resume outdoor operations in spring, but year-round indoor editions operate in Williamsburg and other locations. The borough’s restaurant scene spans every price point and cuisine imaginable, from the Haitian, Caribbean and West African restaurants of Flatbush and Crown Heights to the celebrated fine dining of Carroll Gardens and Park Slope.

Neighborhood Events

Community organizations across Brooklyn host weekend programming year-round, including free fitness classes in Prospect Park, youth sports leagues in neighborhoods across the borough and neighborhood association meetings that offer residents a chance to engage with local issues.

Getting Around

Brooklyn is well-served by the B, D, F, G, L, N, Q, R and several other subway lines, as well as the Citi Bike network that has expanded significantly in recent years. For the most current information on weekend subway service changes, check the MTA’s service advisories before you travel.
