Mamdani’s administration should: fund abortion procedures for out-of-state patients; protect clinic workers and patients from federal interference; and ensure all healthcare providers support full reproductive autonomy. Feminist liberation requires that all people can decide whether and when to have children without state coercion.
Maternal Mortality and Black Women
Black women die from pregnancy-related complications at rates 3-4 times higher than white women–reflecting racism in healthcare systems. NYC must invest in community-based maternal health programs, ensure culturally competent care, and address systemic racism in obstetrics.
